cone five

Cone Five was a Winnipeg noise-pop band formed in late 1999 and dissolved in mid 2007. The band was something of a minor sensation in Winnipeg and abroad, with a solid fanbase and two albums charting nationally.

The overall sound of Cone Five was a mixture of anger and sweetness, primarily realized in the sharing of lead vocal duties by Matt McLennan and Leslie Oldham. Correspondingly, the sound ranged in scope from ultra-heavy punk/metal-inspired material to bubblegum and surf. Live shows were loud, energetic and unpredictable. The guitar loomed large in the band's sound, and inspiration came from a variety of surprising and incongruous influences.

Grumpy Cloud Records was pleased to release Cone Five's final album, Ants in the Sugar, in 2007. We're now equally pleased to have made available the band's entire back catalogue for your enjoyment. We hope you take the time to wallow in some 2000's Winnipeg nostalgia - we know we will.
